How to make ERP Implementation Successful for Your Company

  1. Data collection

Ensure that you collect all the data relevant to your business and convert it. The data could be new or the old one but remember the ERP system will have to upload your data from spreadsheets to the database.

After converting your data manually, you need to feed it to the ERP system database and then review it for completeness and accuracy.

  1. Training and testing

Let your project team test the database by running real life scenarios to determine the accuracy and efficiency of the system. Also, during the system testing, ensure that all primary interfaces are designed and integration issues resolved. This ensures that the ERP system works well with the other systems.

Have your project team conduct the in-house training. Such training will make sure that every relevant ERP system user knows how to use it well.

  1. Go live and evaluate

Once you are convinced that the ERP system is working well with your company and that your employees are aware and know how to use it, then, develop a final go-live checklist.

Also, you should make an evaluation plan which touches on the goals and objectives set by your project team. Also, consider having the post-implementation audit to determine how your system is fairing on.

Successful ERP system implementation is no walk in the park. However, if you follow the five steps given in this article, you will succeed in implementing the system.

As I engage companies looking forward to either upgrading their existing Enterprise Resource Planning systems or begin using the system, one thing becomes clear. That is, most companies tend to adopt the ERP systems without using the right method, and this could ultimately bring the system into failure. Here are five steps to help you implement the ERP technology safely and successfully in your company.

  1. Strategic planning

This is the initial step in implementing the ERP project. Strategic planning involves the following activities;

  • Coming up with a project team
  • Evaluating the current business processes and flow of information
  • Setting goals
  • Developing a viable project plan

Come up with a project team that has professional skills in sales, purchasing, customer services accounting operations, senior management and much more. Base your selection on the employees` skills and ensure that each team member is committed to the success of the project.

Then, the project team should evaluate the current business processes to determine which one needs to be improved. To perform this evaluation, they need to analyse every business critical document including invoices, batch tickets and much more.

After identifying the business processes that require improvement or transformation, your team should set realistic objectives. Remember, ERP solutions are massive, and you cannot implement everything in one day. Therefore, you need to define the scope of what you want to implement within the given time and according to your business needs.

Your team should also develop an implementation plan. The plan will include the set goals, training procedures, timelines and the individual team roles.

  1. Procedure review

Dedicate time to review the ERP software capabilities for the project team. You should also train them to ensure that they understand every aspect of the software.

Also, analyse your company`s manual processes that require automation. These are areas where you need to implement the ERP processes.

Antipodes participated in the informal meeting of the EU Council on Competitiveness, held on 27 and 28 January 2016 in Amsterdam. Informal Meeting of Ministers of the Council on Competitiveness and Growth in Amsterdam provided a unique opportunity for ministers and leading developers to explore the role that the European Commission should play in order to accelerate the "digitization of the industry."
Businesses across all industries need to adopt different digital developments, such as the Internet of Things and Big Data analytics within their business operations and business models to compete and thrive in the digital age. The European Commission, working in close cooperation with the Member States develop implementation program with which to support the digitization of European industry. Because of this, active participation of leading entrepreneurs in the field of digitization and digitization is essential. In this respect, the Dutch Presidency invite any minister to lead with him leading developers of his country - those who have extensive experience and contribution to the development of digital products, optimize the business processes, creation / transformation of digital services and / or new digital business models. The participants were given the opportunity to cut their positions on how to design future competitive European digital economy. The results will impact directly on the agenda for implementation, which the European Commission intends to publish in the spring of 2016. The participation of entrepreneurs held a round table on January 27, hosted by VNONCW (Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers), where they discussed key opportunities and obstacles to the development of the European industry. The discussion includes topics such as key enabling technologies and digitization, regulation of innovation, defining industry standards.

Mobile

This may not surprise you, right? Everything is going mobile. Any software, website or provider that isn’t embracing the shift to mobile devices, will be left way behind, in fact so far behind in the dust!

Surprisingly, many professionals today in both large and small organizations use mobile devices to get and enter work information. It is beyond doubt that ERP systems have jumped on the mobile bandwagon, making small screens appropriate, launching apps and coming up with mobile-friendly Unemployment Insurance (UI). Many ERP system features like dashboards and reporting perform well in mobile devices and therefore, ERP providers take mobile-friendliness as a regulation rather than an exception.

Social media integration

As of 2016, ERP systems are jumping on the bandwagon of social media as a way of the future. Social media is very helpful in the ERP systems as customer relations managers can access the customers` media data. Cloud

A recent Garter study argues that by 2018, more than 30%of service-centric companies will upload much of the ERP applications to the cloud. This forecasting has been floating around for a long time, but 2016 will experience a hybrid model in which most of the applications will be hosted on-site and in the cloud to keep pace with the evolving market demand.

Not for only big guys anymore

With the ERP system vendors offering greater customization, more mobility and more cloud based options which are cost effective, even small start-ups are hopping on board. They are throwing away spreadsheets and adopting options such as ERP systems that allow them to take into account their future business growth.

The classifications of ERP and Tier are no longer relevant. SAP certifies Business Suite for production use on Amazon Web Services

Antipodes developed mobile application Historipyn

Antipodes developed new mobile application, which allowes the users to view and share pictures in the platform. Historypin directly from their mobile phones.

The application is available for two of the most popular mobile operating systems Apple iOS and Google Android and uses all available features of modern mobile devices, including GPS, camera, mobile internet connection.

Walking on streets, people can see pictures of the places, they are walking by and can make a comparison between the present and the past, which is represented by a rich collection of historical images loaded from the database of historypin.com. Not only they can see the past, but they can also document the present: pictures taken from the phones are automatically saved in HistoryPin, with their coordinates, as well as notes and stories, that every user can ad.

Historypin won the prestigious Webby Award

"History Pin" website was prized with award from the prestigious Webby Awards in the Charity and NGO's category . The event took place on 4th of May, when the winners in the competition, known as Internet Oscars were announced.

History Pin is innovative web application , through which users from all over the world can share old pictures and stories from different historical periods, and toghether to creater historical map of the world. The website started in june 2010 and till today the amount ofpictures stored is more than 42000, oldest of which have been taken in 1840. The Website was created by the initiative of "We Are What We Do" organization with the partnership of Google. For the technical realization of the project is responsible "Antipodes" company, which is developing also iOS and Android applications History Pin, which will be distributed free for all devices operating with the relevant platforms.

Webby Awards are international awards, which are given annually in New York by the "International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences", for outstanding achievments in various areas in the web like websites, interactive ads, online movies, and mobile applications. They are one of the most prestigious awards in the world in the mentioned areas.

Antipodes participated in this year's international conference for software developers Google I/О 2011, which took place in San Francisco on 10-11th of May, following the special invitation from Google organizers.

I/О, Google brings together the creators of some of the best software applications, using their technologies. On the conference Antipodes presented HistoryPin.com, which earlier this year won the Webby Award.

History Pin is innovative web application, based on Google Maps and Google Street View and running on Google App Engine Platform. Using this application, users worldwide can create a historical map of the world, sharing their old pictures and stories from different time periods. At Google I/О 2011, the application was introduced in the fast - growing category of geographically-based services, along with six other websites and applications and more than 150 representatives from other parts of the world.
